Brand, Website, Marketing Materials, and Video for Vermont Wildwoods

Challenge

Vermont Wildwoods, a premium supplier of spalted wood veneers and plywood, pioneered a process to initiate spalting, significantly increasing the supply of a rare commodity. This proprietary innovation became a growth opportunity to attract new clients and investors.

To meet this need, Wildwoods founder Parker Nichols approached Haystack to overhaul his company’s brand identity and assets. Our challenge was to evolve his brand assets enough to add polish, spark excitement, and speak to a broader base while honoring the company’s existing lineage.

Approach

Nichols admired the existing logo, so we fixed inherent design issues to evolve the brand such that it reflected the original but was modernized for use across his marketing materials. We optimized its scalability by correcting the shape and simplifying the tree element and color scheme. Reorienting the company name to the right of the marque improved readability.

Once the evolved brand was approved, we built a new website and produced a documentary-style profile video and corporate ID assets, including presentation and packaging materials. The nature-inspired color palette complements the modern design and custom video assets. We also created a b-roll video to replace a static hero image at the top of the website, and we showcased the explainer video in the middle of the homepage to inform visitors about the company and its spalting process to generate further interest in their products.

Results

The refined brand identity and assets connect to the legacy of organic production and correspond to the high-end products created with Vermont Wildwoods’ materials.

This project won our hearts, but it also won Viddy, Telly, Summit, and DotComms award recognition! The new brand, marketing materials, website, and videos work together to create an enticing package that appeals to clients and investors alike.
